- Katiola, the capital of the region, is a Local Economic Connector (a small town that is at an embryonic stage of urbanization facilitating internal economies of scale, such as hosting a large company that processes local agricultural products) whose economy is characterized by a preponderance of agricultural and mining activities (Study on the Competitive Economic Pole Development Program - PEC, 2018). The central position of Katiola and the Hambol Region, which also benefit from the presence of the railway, is an asset for the exchange and transport of raw materials and goods, especially since it is also located on the North-South corridor between Burkina Faso and Abidjan;
- There is one (01) industrial zone in the Katiola department with an industrial land reserve of 253 ha (MCIPPME, 2022);
- Mobile network coverage (ARTCI, July 2023): 86.04% of localities and 92.80% of the population are covered.
- Health: The health infrastructure in the region includes most of the technical platforms.
