Agreements and Conventions

At the bilateral level, the two (02) countries maintain excellent relations and have signed several agreements governing these relations:

  • Air Transport Agreement, signed in Abidjan on November 25, 1968.
  • Cultural, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation Agreement, signed on January 15, 1985.
  • Cultural and Technical Cooperation Agreement, signed on January 21, 1985, with ratification instruments exchanged in May 1986.
  • Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation, signed on January 15, 1985, and ratified in 1987.
  • Trade Agreement, signed on February 25, 1998.
  • Agreement on the Establishment of a Joint Cooperation Commission, signed on March 7, 1998.
  • Technical Cooperation Agreement between the Egyptian and Ivorian Governments, signed by the two (02) Foreign Ministers in Abidjan on March 7, 1998.
  • Technical Cooperation Agreement, known as "The Fund", signed in Abidjan on March 7, 1998.
  • Memorandum of Understanding on Health and Pharmaceutical Production, signed on July 27, 2002.
  • Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation, signed on March 26, 2009, between the two (02) Civil Aviation Authorities.
  • Three (03) Cooperation Agreements in the fields of Health, Culture, and Information and Communication Technologies, signed in Abidjan on April 11, 2019.

It should be noted that the first session of the Grand Joint Commission for Ivorian-Egyptian Cooperation was held in Abidjan on March 6 and 7, 1998.

On this occasion, 14 draft agreements in the fields of transport, culture, infrastructure, tourism, trade, industry, fisheries, customs, administration, and health were reviewed and were supposed to be finalized during the second Grand Joint Commission to be held in Egypt, which has not yet taken place.

Additionally, Côte d'Ivoire benefits from most of the training programs organized by the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation in Africa, particularly in the fields of agriculture, media, communication and information technology, nursing, and diplomatic training.

In 2009, the Egyptian Fund provided Côte d'Ivoire with a donation of three (03) tons of medicines and medical equipment.

As part of Egypt's scholarship and internship program, many Ivorians participate in professional training or university studies in Egypt in the fields of security and counterterrorism, communication, agriculture, health, trade, industry, and Arabic language learning.

  • Over the period 2019-2023, the average annual value of Ivorian exports is estimated at 38.39 billion FCFA, while imports amount to 49.52 billion FCFA per year.
