Agreements and Conventions

Luxembourg and Côte d’Ivoire maintain strong relations, characterized by high-level visits and the signing of economic cooperation agreements.

In this context, the Deputy Prime Minister of Luxembourg visited Côte d’Ivoire in October 2011, where he was received by President Alassane Ouattara.

The President of the Economic and Social Council of Côte d’Ivoire, Charles Koffi Diby, made a working visit to Luxembourg from March 2 to March 6, 2017.

Additionally, Luxembourg and the European Investment Bank (EIB) signed a cooperation agreement on January 23, 2017, concerning technical assistance in microfinance for African, Caribbean, and Pacific (ACP) countries, including Côte d’Ivoire. This agreement, with a new funding allocation of €3.6 million for the next three years, aims to leverage expertise to support micro and small business projects in a targeted and effective manner. The objective is to contribute to socio-economic development and poverty reduction.

Furthermore, several agreements have been signed between the two countries, including the one signed on April 1, 1999, in Brussels between the Belgian-Luxembourg Economic Union and Côte d’Ivoire, concerning the Promotion and Protection of Investments.

An economic forum took place in Abidjan in October 2018, with 40 Luxembourg business leaders representing 27 companies, aiming to boost trade between Côte d’Ivoire and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, which remains relatively low.
